Abstract

We introduce SCAENA (Simulated Courtroom and AI Agents for Education, Navigation and Assistance), a hybrid human-AI sandbox for studying AI-supported interaction in judicial contexts. Rather than treating digital justice as a matter of document exchange or videoconferencing alone, the project approaches the hearing as a spatial, social, and procedural environment in which human roles, evidence, interfaces, and interactional cues must remain coordinated. Built on a courtroom digital twin, SCAENA explores how generative conversational agents may support three scenario families: AI-powered professional role-play, AI-supported citizen and witness familiarisation, and AI-generated 3D evidence interaction. This research agenda positions SCAENA as a comparative HHAI sandbox for studying how AI guidance affects legal training, procedural understanding, and 3D evidence interpretation across different interaction conditions.
