The Cyberjustice Laboratory is recruiting 1 research assistant - Clerk
The Cyberjustice Laboratory is a unique space for reflection and creation where justice processes are modelled and re-imagined to improve access to justice. Our work is characterized by the experimentation of technological innovations, such as artificial intelligence, to optimize the current functioning of justice, in order to increase its efficiency, reduce costs and delays, and simplify its workings for all. The Laboratory's international and multidisciplinary team of researchers, which brings together more than forty researchers in law, psychology, sociology, philosophy, computer science and information science, is trying to address, in a concrete way, the challenges posed by access to justice in Canada by developing a new generation of open source software adapted to the needs of judicial actors.
DESCRIPTION OF THE CLERK'S POSITION (15H/WEEK)
In collaboration with the Laboratory team, the candidate will act as a clerk for an innovative online mediation pilot project in Quebec. This project, which provides better access to justice in consumer law, is being carried out in close collaboration with the Legal Department of the Consumer Protection Office. The candidate will work with mediators, traders and consumers to ensure the smooth running of the project. He ensures compliance with the proper use of the PARLe platform in accordance with the associated procedures, while providing technical support to users.
PROFILE OF THE CANDIDATES REQUIRED
Undergraduate or graduate law student with a strong interest in information technology.
- Fluent in French and English;
- Self-sufficient and meticulous;
- In-depth knowledge of the Civil Code of Quebec;
- Experience in customer service and knowledge of information technology are important assets.
TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT
Part-time (15 hours/week) from January 6 to March 31, 2020.
According to the salary scales in effect at the University of Montreal.
